In October 2009, DotA Developer 'IceFrog' announced a great news that he has been
hired by Valve and leading a team there "
to do some very exciting stuff that you guys will love". However, there was no further information revealed about it. Later, it was rumored that IceFrog is coming with
Valve DotA Based Game like Heroes Of Newerth & League Of Legends. But now, this news seems to be true.
UPDATE: DotA 2 has been announced.Jon St. John, The voice actor of popular game Duke Nukem series had a post on his
Twitter page claiming that he has done voice acting for Valve's DotA.
This pretty much means that IceFrog is coming with a DotA based game with Valve's collaboration. A while ago, IceFrog mentioned in his
Q&A Session #4 that "
We'll be making an announcement soon". Also, John mentioned the same about PAX Expo 2010 which is happening on early September and amazingly, Valve is listed on PAX website as an exhibitor.
If this really happens all the DotA players who were attracted/ moved to other DotA clones will
probably revert back to Valve's DotA on large scale. Let's see if IceFrog updates further about this on his blog.

It sounds like the Twitter is for two unrelated things, as in he was recording a DotA (Defense of the Ancients) game but also thinks Valve Software are awesome.
Pretty obvious considering he just ends with "Pax? Might see you there"

I'll be expecting great things. I just hope that if DOTA will become an independent software (like HON or LOL), that it would still be free to play unlike HON or others who require betakeys or payment.

DotA started as a free mod. It attracted many, many players and now do you seriously think that IceFrog will make us pay for it? Of course he won't be the one demanding payment. The ones demanding payment are the greedy sons of bitches at the STEAM community.

valve has so many members contributing to this project of making DotA a better game. It could be spent on improving CS, Half Life, Portal. I've tried every DOTA style game - including DOTA! and League of Legends was the only one that kept my interest for a while. It's really a well done game, I hope Valve can improve on that. I also hope they do something unique with the mechanics and not just a clone with personality.

Okay. Obviously this isn't going to be free. They pour probably over thousands of dallors into this game, its going to be great. Its going to be the same type, but probably with a bigger expansion of heros. Heres the thing you: You can tell its not going to be free, and thats because they HIRED him. He didn't volunteer. This game is going to be huge, and all around awesome. The one thing I'm really skeptical about though is what catch there is. Obviously they want to make money, its either going to cost alot or they are going to have other things that cost money. Now again, the gamestyle isn't going to change. Its just going to have a bigger expansion of items, heros, and most likely going to have some sort of spin. And for those of you who QQ so hard about buying this game, shoot yourself. Don't be stupid "ICEFROG WOULDN'T DO THAT." Icefrog isn't calling the shots. Icefrog works for Valve, not the other way around.

Jesus christ, why are people so mad at the "its gonna cost to play"? If you want to play dota you have to buy wc3. Why is it so difficult to pay for a game?
Please make it pay to play.. free to play attract the worst kind of communities. HoN has been soooooo much better since the beta finished. I don't have any pinoys nerd raging, or asking me every 4 seconds if i am pinoy. I suggest a good price point would be $40.. a game for people who have jobs.
