The vital change in DotA 2 is that it will run on Valve's Source Engine which will remove all the Warcraft 3 limitations. All the heroes, items, terrain, buildings will be ported same as in current version of DotA. Anyone who plays Warcraft 3 - Dota will instantly recognize DotA 2. However, there are still some things which are new in DotA 2.
Following are some features Valve introduced about incoming DotA 2:
In-game Voice Chat:DotA 2 will have integrated voice chat feature which will allow players to communicate during game without using 3rd party software.
Leaver AI replacement:
Disconnected players will be replaced by AI bots which will take control over the hero. It will be available in unranked matches.
Heroes Voice:
DotA 2 will feature new voice work. You'll get amusing lines from heroes as they deny the enemy team last hits on creeps, and champions who have backstory connections will trade quips when nearby.
Rewards & Matchmaking System:
Valve is using it's traditional Steamworks as a matchmaking & community rewards system which will allow you to create in-game rewards for participating in community forums.
Coaching & Training System:
Once again, Valve is coming with a great innovation of coaching system which will be used to train a beginner to learn DotA 2 to sustain a respectable position in the community. It will allow veteran players to login as a coach. Coach can see beginner's screen and can get private voice chat during the game.
It is indeed a revolutionary & surprise step taken by Valve by entering in the world of MMO-RTS games with the help of IceFrog. Finally, DotA Fans had some relief after hearing some of the features of the upcoming DotA 2. The upgraded heroes are still looking remarkable in the images. It's good that Valve DotA 2 team revealed something but fans will still consider it as a drop in a ocean that IceFrog still refused to disclose his name in the community.

I rly didn`t expect to see the old heroes! I thought he would do something totally different to shock everybody. But I`m fine with that. The balance between "newness" and the real DotA-feeling is so frickin hard to keep up...I really can`t imagine how IceFrog will pull that off but he can do it.

1st) Will DotA2 be free? Do we have to pay money to buy the CD-Key etc? or perhaps we need to buy accounts in order to login.
2nd) Is there any "reconnection" for disconnected players? Since now it's hosted by Steam, and not individually by the hosters.
3rd) There's bots to replace leavers. Then does this mean we can play with AIs as well to train ourselves? But i doubt the AI will be anyhow good since Valve do not play, or have no experience in DotA?
4th) Means the map now will be hosted by Valve? I mean, as in, when new map of DotA is released, this DotA2 will update the map itself in it's installation folder when we opened them? So saves us the trouble of going and finding the map? =)
5th) Since this is from Valve, do we have to host independently as well? As in, the hoster, will have to use his own connection, to host in the Valve server, and if the host disconnected, everyone gets disconnected? Or, the host will request to create a host, then the server will open one room for the creator to host, so it's hosted under the server itself, and if the host get disconnected, everyone still able to continue playing?
6th) If this is hosted via Valve server, maybe reconnection is possible... but this means that for people playing far across the country where Valve server is located, will experience delay or lag. But if this is hosted independently of their server, which means the host will be the 'server' of that particular game, then lag or delay may not happen, but i doubt reconnection is possible in that way...
i hope this will be free!!!

1) In my opinion, DotA 2 will be free with Micro Transaction system, I still doubt it will be on Local Area Network.
2) Of course, there will be a reconnection system, Otherwise it can't compete with other clones.
3) If there is AI replacement for leavers, then it will surely have Dota 2 AI bots to play on single player.
4) DotA 2 will be hosted on Steam source engine which contains DLC so, no more map/update download and installing hassles.
5) Games will be hosted via steam, you don't need to do anything. There may be an option of dedicated server.
6) Valve must allow player based game hosting because a major amount of Dota players originate from Asian countries so there will be a lagg, disconnection issue.

It is good, but the paying is like impossible since like 90% of the players are under age, and I'm sure that like 70% of those 90% wont be able to pay even if they would like it!
i think they should consider a Lan and Online mode. where in Lan.. you'll be playing against players in the Local Network cause not all of us have internet access but can still play dota and in Online mode much like a build-in Garena..

Dota 2 hard been announced ? Whats the use if it comes out overseas first not together with asia. MOST DOTA PLAYERS ARE ASIA OKAY. You announced it as if your gonna release it to the whole country. Damn use some brain, as if your game will be a hit if you release it in Europe, states & etc. Its better you release it at the same time, you earn more profits and more players at the same time though you will loose a couple of bucks. Risk it for the fans okay. Thats what you call a Producer or an Idol! No offence though not trying to be racist or what not. But if you care for profits/buyers/fans/ratings then have it this way. I may not think it properly but, if you release it in the place where you produce it, then whats the point of you creating the game if other countries have to wait months/years for the game to be shipped to their country, illegally brought or crack by CRACKERS to get the chance to play the game. the thing that makes dota attractiv is wc3 since this game requires minimal hardware. players follow ice due to his studies on game balancing issues. dota2 will -most probably- require higher graphic accelerator and processor. i think this game will fail and ppl will keep up playing old maps on bnet or garena

I don't request for anything, i just want it to be cheap enough that is affordable by everyone, not like Starcraft II, HoN, or what shit. It's fucking expensive after converted to my country's currency which exceeded 100+ (and 200+ for Starcraft II) bucks, plus the serious connection issues where the server is located so far from my country, that i have delay of almost 3,4 seconds all the time. when i check the ping, everyone was like... 300,400ms, some even reached up to 800ms. Wtf
And, IceFrog, please, if u really wants to start up this DotA2 project, i hope you can still release your latest map by the way it is now, in getdota.com, so that people can still play your new version of DotA. Some of us might not be able to afford it, or it's too expensive to want to think of buying it, or, that our computer could not support it. As you know, there are still many people whose computer couldn't support, even Warcraft III, and having lagging issues most of the time. (Well, based on my experience in garena, i've seen alot people's pc lagging, including few of my friends though..).
So, please if can, release it as usual in your site. Playdota.com, or getdota.com. Thanks!

5000 hours is equivalent to approximately 208 days, which is 7 months the most, let's include sleeping time, schooling time, eating time, and the time u spend with ur family. Let's make it 3 years for you, considering your playing time to your daily activities is of ratio 1:5
I've been playing since 5,6 years ago, and i played at least 7 hours a day from 3pm (after my school) till 10pm+, sometimes 11pm, (not to mention weekends where i played almost the whole day) for the first 3,4 years, which makes up to more than 10000 hours, with another extra 2 years after i've entered university (total of 6 years).

Even if you logon onto battle-net, ask most of the players there, ask them where are they from, and see what answer you'll get. And if you would like to, check where the battle-net server originated, i'm sure it's not from Brazil.
one that got DotA very popular was because of it's very easy access or rather you can get it so easily, so if this will be available ONLY on steam then people will wait for someone to crack/patch so it will be a STANDALONE and keep it from STEAM's FAILURE, and one more thing about the updates wonder how it will turn is it like TF2? well another thing is will ice frog continue to delevop DotA? and some say Warcaft's mod map is only a maximum of 8mb and 6.69 is 7.xx so I wonder what will happen on the future >_<

Quit bitching about money, it'll only cost anywhere from 39.99$ to 59.99$. There are how many kids out there that play WoW, and various other MMO's, and they are able to pay the monthly fees either by themselves, or with their parents credit cards.
Parents these days don't give a shit what their kid(s) need money for anymore, it keeps them busy, entertained, and out of their hair. It's the easy way out and the majority of parents out there will buy it for them. Hence why Halo, and CoD are full of so many annoying children.
If not, maybe it's time to get a job. Plenty of young teens have jobs, a part time job is more than enough to be able to afford something such as this.

Man this game gonna be cool. It's gonna turn out better than LoL and HoN. It'll probably receive constant updates to prevent people from cracking it like other source games. And there will probably be less hackers with Valve's Anti-Cheat System. The game-play is probably gonna be the same the only thing that's gonna change is the graphics. Knowing most Valve games its going to look better than just a regular map from WC3.
