IceFrog (DotA Developer) recently blogged a Valve's DotA 2 surprise update just short after the big DotA 6.69 release. The new DotA 2 which he has been working on with Valve for an year will be announced tomorrow on Game Informer magazine. This is indeed an exciting news for all the DotA community around the world. Hey guys, Game Informer dropped by the office last week to take a look at what I've been working on with the rest of the team over the last year.
They are going to post an article about it tomorrow on their website. I'll give you guys a link to it as soon as it is published.

I hope it's gonna be a great IceFrog's DotA remake with Valve. Imagine playing DotA without any restrictions and limitations of Warcraft 3. What you guys say about it?

Maybe it's the new game mode for TF2 they mentioned. Maybe that's why they trademarked "dota" instead of "Defense of the Ancients", so they could name maps dota_2fort, dota_well, etc.

I'll be very disappointed if this is just another DOTA clone like Heroes of Newerth or League of Legends. And if it is a 3rd person co-op game, I'll boycott valve

wrong. Riot games league of legends is made by guinsoo, THE FIRST CREATOR OF DOTA. icefrog is the 3rd leader of this hand-me-down project.
as long as its FTP game I'm willing to give my life :D joking may be not my life .... but I hope it would be FTP ... If it's FTP I would recommend it to my classmates,friends,family and everybody to be known quickly ... by the way FTP means Free To Play for the sake of the ones who doesn't know

Wow i really hope this game is free and we don't have to pay for it . Well it'll be totally biased if we have to pay just to play a newly-more-engine-and-mechanics-improved DotA .
dota 2 is just a peice of junk! Its just going to be the same thing as dota but with a price tag on it!!
dude, this is junk! Its just dota that costs money. I saw a video and its the same exact thing! Just looks (very slightly) a little better. You would have to be a real loser to actually pay for this!
